The Venus Project is a great example of an Envisioner doing the extreme to chase his dream. Aside from being an adorable old man, .Jaque Fresco is a social engineer, industrial designer, author, lecturer, futurist, and inventor, and advocates an alternative vision for a sustainable new world civilization, that is completely different from any socio-economic system that exists today or that has ever existed before. Thats a lot for a 93 year old man. When Fresco reflected on his vision of a world with inherent peace and justice he realized it calls for a holistic redesign of culture, in which "the age-old inadequacies of war, poverty, hunger, debt, and unnecessary human suffering are viewed not only as avoidable, but totally unacceptable (The Venus Project 2011)." His ideas are by no means not based on opinion, but rather research backed by major universities and qualifies scientists.

"That's what we need, science applied to governments. So far we have opinions from politicians that know nothing about ecology, safety, engineering, increasing an agricultural yield..."
I found this part of the interview particularly engaging for me. Environmental Decision Making is a mandatory class at my university. What do we talk about?
Well, we talk about how influence decision making in the 'real world' to convince politicians and other decision makers, in one clever way or another, to take the science (the Solid Facts) of environmental and social issues into further account.
The class is useful. Sure; but why are we in this predicament? Why in the face of a rapidly approaching dark omen must we kiss so much culprit ass?
It should be straight-up mandatory to take science into account. What a world this has become.
But anyway, I suppose like grandpa Fresco says "[they] didnt know any better"
In this case either I advocate a violent opposition between two parties that both think they are protecting their livelihood (which would only fortify the issue); OR, more rationally, the peaceful option would be to work the system by "winning the hearts and minds" of the people to separate those sustainability terrorists from those who appreciate life like oil and water. With the power of people and knowledge those who appreciate life and have empathy all living things (or at least realize their importance) will slowly win. ...One day they will be the minority, and if the biosphere that supports our human species collapses before then, then I bid you adiue world and then in the afterlife I can say "I told you so" to decision makers who never cared enough to make bold responsible decision.
So there.
(Oh, knowing and the troubles you cause me when there are so few who care.)
Anywho...The structure of The Venus Project's organization consists of three global teams:
TVP Design Teams gather Scientific & Technical Professional volunteers to design related TVP projects in order to realize their implementation.
TVP Support Teams aim to introduce the world population to TVP's aims and proposals, and produce creative media to assist this process.
The TVP Core Teams are organized focused groups from the global community who are develop a database of contacts, a system of networks, and collect content that assists the aims and proposals of the project.
TVP's professionalism (which you can see on the website), despite a sole volunteer base says that his vision is something people want and will do quality work for it for its own sake. People want security, and the system we have today creates a rat-race where only the elite few will receive it.
